Spotlight: Dean Forge

Dean Forge stoves are fabulous, and we’re delighted Dean Forge have decided we’re also fabulous enough to display their stoves to our customers! Their stoves are manufactured in Devon, so are completely British, which we love, they support the whole stove industry through being Stove Industry Association members, and they’re properly nice people. It also doesn’t hurt that Alice makes absolutely the best chocolate Brownies ever!  This is a great family success story, and one we’re proud to be a part of now too.

1969, Michael Chew founded Dean Forge in Dean Prior, Dartmoor, with his first range of Herrick stoves, named after the poet Robert Herrick, who lived in Dean Prior, making their debut in 1978.

All Dean Forge stoves are designed, manufactured, and assembled in their own factory in Devon, and the doors are cast in a British foundry.

His son, Simon, joined Dean Forge in 1994 and they have since recruited his daughter Alice, her husband Jack, as well as a close family friend, Pat.

Michael has said “when I started the company, I used to make all sorts of products, and it quickly became apparent that wood burning stoves would replace open fires, and this continues today”. Dean Forge are proud members of the Stove Industry Association (SIA). The SIA champions the use of modern, efficient stoves to reduce emissions, raise awareness and disprove misinformation. It is very important to us to work with organisations that support the SIA and the wider industry.

Managing Director Simon says, “from our early double door canopy Herrick stove to our now very successful Dartmoor Range of stoves, we produce highly refined and efficient ranges of wood and multi-fuel stoves that are in huge demand distributing stoves via a network of over 120 UK Stockists – exporting to countries such as Australia, Europe and USA”.

Offering a range of; multifuel and woodburning; 5kW and 8kW stoves and oven stoves; benches and heatshields, Dean Forge top off their extensive range with an impressive colour assortment.

Now into their third generation as a family-run business, Simon has stated that “these stoves are incredibly efficient, and we are pleased that our customers can buy with confidence today and in the future”.
