General Terms & Conditions
T&Cs
Thank you for choosing Green Man Stoves to undertake the work on your chimney, stove or fireplace. Following, you will find our terms and conditions and also a few simple steps that will help us to complete your work safely and efficiently.
We understand that it may become inconvenient to keep your appointment with us – where a cancellation or a request to postpone is made within 48 hrs of the appointment a call out charge will be levied.
Where we have been contracted to sweep your flue and/or service your existing stove – should we find that your installation does not comply with regulations we will decline to carry out the works, explain the relevant non-compliances and where possible propose a solution. Where this happens a callout charge for our travel and time will be levied.
Where we are unable to gain access to your property and/or there is no one at home or on site to provide access, a callout charge equal to the cost of the service will be levied.
It is essential that your chimney is swept prior to any installation. If we find upon arrival that the chimney has not been swept and/or is blocked, we will be unable to proceed and an additional charge for 2 men for one days work will be levied. The amount of this charge will be given upon request.
If we are installing a liner, a HETAS registered fitter will carry out the works. Please note that all chimney linings must be swept and checked regularly to uphold the warranty. This is usually required every 12 months as a minimum and is a service Green Man Stoves is happy to provide, the cost of which can be given on request.
We ask that any carpets are rolled well back from the fireplace and that the area is kept as clear as possible. Every effort is made to avoid excessive dust by placing dustsheets, but we ask that furniture and electrical equipment be moved to avoid dust from affecting it. Upon completion of the works, we advise you to employ the services of a professional carpet
fitter if necessary.
Our fitters will do their utmost to leave the area as clean as possible, however, we should point out that dust resulting from the work will settle. If this concerns you, it is advisable to cover your furniture.
Particularly when undertaking fireplace opening up, alterations or restoration, unforeseen issues may arise as the works get underway. This happens infrequently. However, should it happen, we will keep you informed at all times, and discuss and agree on the way forward.
When installing into a customer’s existing fireplace and/or hearth, every care will be taken to ensure the pre-existing fixtures remain in their original condition. It is rare, but with this type of work that is not always a certainty. Should something happen to them, we will keep you informed at all times and although Green Man Stoves do not accept any responsibility for your existing fixtures, we will help to determine a solution.
Please be sure that you are happy with the choices you make. We will happily try to facilitate any amendment to your requirements after the point of ordering; however, any amendment may incur an additional charge. When you choose to proceed with your order, we will require a 50% deposit prior to a works date being booked. The balance is payable on the day of completion.
It is your responsibility to determine whether any planning permissions or listed building consents are required and for securing same. (Planning is usually, although not exclusively, only relevant for twin wall installations in AONB). We will need a copy of any permissions, consents or VAT exemptions for our records.
Orders are accepted and promises for delivery are given conditionally upon our being able to secure the necessary materials and without responsibility for delays arising through risks and uncertainties of manufacture, strikes, accident or other causes beyond our control. Green Man Stoves cannot be held responsible for delays incurred by third parties. A cancellation of goods that have been ordered particularly for you cannot be accepted.
Guarantees and Warranties: Stove and chimney lining/system warranties vary depending upon the manufacturer – please ask for details. All guarantees and warranties are dependent upon the appliance/lining being maintained and used in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and the chimney being checked, swept and maintained properly. Sweeping and checking is usually required every 12 months as a minimum and is a service Green Man Stoves is happy to provide, the cost of which will be given on request. No guarantee is offered on chimney cowls. No guarantee is offered on stove glass, firebricks, and rope or consumable parts in stoves.
Green Man Stoves are registered upper tier waste carriers – Reg No. CBDU337045. All waste generated during our course of works is disposed of properly and legally when we are contracted to do so.
