Advice & Support

Over the years, we have been called to many homes following some truly distressing incidents, helping families deal with the aftermath of carbon monoxide leaks, chimney fires and, sadly, even more serious events.

Experiences like these have reinforced our belief that we have a responsibility not only to install and maintain stoves safely, but also to help educate people about using solid fuel appliances correctly. We regularly share advice, safety information and best practice through our social media channels, helping both our customers and the wider community stay safe and get the very best from their stoves.

We're also carrying out an increasing number of CCTV chimney inspections, allowing us to assess the condition of flues quickly and accurately. We carry out these inspections for:

  • Homeowners who are selling houses.
  • People who are buying a new home.
  • Households with ‘chimney problems’.
  • Customers who are thinking about installing a new stove.
  • Estate agents.
  • Surveyors.
  • Insurance assessors.

It's impossible to visually inspect around 80% of the inside of a chimney from either the top or the bottom, so without specialist equipment, there's no way of knowing exactly what's happening inside.

We take great satisfaction in identifying potential problems early and preventing dangerous situations from developing. It's far better to resolve an issue before it leads to a chimney fire, a carbon monoxide incident or costly damage than to deal with the aftermath.

We're also encouraged that more and more people are open to advice about the safe use of stoves and chimneys. Burning wood and solid fuel is an important part of our history and heritage, but the way our parents and grandparents heated their homes isn't always the safest, cleanest or most efficient approach today. Modern appliances, fuels and regulations have moved on significantly, and we're delighted that so many people are embracing current best practice to keep their homes warm, efficient and, above all, safe.
